Maybelline New York Dream Smooth Mousse

Maybelline New York Dream Smooth Mousse is so cute and easy to carry on the go. It has a sponge hidden in the lid and the foundation in the second compartment! So tidy and hygenic! The sponge that comes with it gives you a medium coverage, which is pretty good. But I really prefer to use my own makeup brushes for a more flawless look!

The foundation also blends into my skin so well, almost like a moisturiser! It lasts all day long and never really looks cakey, unless I apply too much. But other than that, this foundation is pretty good. It's only $7.95 as well!

It's a great drugstore foundation, although I only really use it if I'm travelling or if I want to touch-up on the go!

But give it a try, you never know, it might be your perfect foundation!

L'Oreal Paris Visible Lift Serum Absolute

This foundation is one of my favourites for a light, everyday foundation. As I've mentioned numerous times in previous posts, I love liquid foundations! I'm always trying new ones because I haven't yet found the completely perfect one for me! I'm only young, so the anti-aging benefits don't really apply to me.. But from reading other reviews on this product, I've found out that it can help to reduce the signs of aging because it smooths out your fine lines!

It has a subtle shimmer and is very lightweight. I use this foundation if I want a nice glow for photos or just because I feel like I want to sparkle! The coverage is very light, in saying that, it can be built up. But! If your acne-prone, probably skip this one. It will accentuate your blemishes (because of its shimmer), rather than hide them! I'd try a more matte foundation of I were you.

This foundation is only $12.50, so it's worth a try if you've got a little extra cash. And if your a little older, then this will benefit you even more to make you appear younger! Bonus! So yeah, give this one a try girls!

Physicians Formula Mineral Illuminating Powder Duo

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Illuminating Powder Duo SPF 16, $13.99

Normally I don't particularly like powder foundations, but this foundation is an exception. This foundation is different. Different to all the other mineral foundations. Unique. Unique because it comes with two shades! Forget the days when you had to search and search for the perfect match to your skin tone. The search has ended. Solution: Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Illuminating Powder Duo SPF 16.

This foundation is so versatile because it can be your foundation throughout summer to winter because of the complete variation you can achieve with its two different shades. It also works simultaneously as a bronzing and highlighter! And for $13.99 your getting a foundation and brush, a bronzing powder and a highlighting powder all in one because of its versatile uses! That's exceptional, if you ask me!

But on to the coverage. Hmm.. well this foundation really isn't for me. It's a great foundation and all, it's just so light coverage, that it doesn't really cover much for me. My cheeks get really red and so I always need something a little more, well, heavier and thicker! That's why I normally use liquid foundation! But in saying that, this powder works well for me after I've used my liquid foundation. I use it as a bronzer and highlighter sometimes.

If you have clear skin, definitely purchase this one, it's a bargain! But for those who have blemishes or redness, maybe this isn't the right one for you, but maybe it is, you never know! Try it out because everyone's different. And it's only $13.99 isn't it!? Anyway, if you don't particularly like it, use it as a bronzer and highlighter like me!!

Nude by Nature Liquid Foundation and Finishing Veil

I love liquid foundation, and Nude by Nature's liquid mineral is my go to if I want a light foundation!

Flawless Liquid Velvet, Liquid Mineral Foundation

PROS:
We all know that after primer comes foundation! No one wants a caky foundation, which is why I'm sure many of you prefer using a liquid one. Nude by Nature's liquid mineral foundation is a pretty good light foundation, if you want that sort of thing. It would be great for everyday use and is very easy to apply with fingers, sponge or even a makeup brush. The foundation also lasts a long time!

CONS:
With every foundation comes cons! I haven't yet found a perfect foundation! This Liquid Mineral Foundation is a whopping $40! For a light foundation that is almost a tinted moisturiser, this can seem very expensive! This foundation also only comes in five shades, which is very limited! Nude by Nature would be wise in creating a wider range of shades so that more customers are catered for. This liquid foundation doesn't cover up much on my face and sometimes looks caky without the finishing veil!

I always finish my foundation off with a finishing veil! Here's what I think of Nude by Nature's Mineral Finishing Veil:

PROS:
This finishing veil evens out the liquid mineral foundation. It lasts a very long time and is transparent so one product fits all! This is probably my favourite product out of their range because it makes my foundation not look caky and gives me an ulluminating glow. I use the kabuki brush which comes in their brush range to give an even more flawless look!

CONS:
What can I say that is not so good about this product? Well not much, apart from the fact that it is very messy to open the container it comes in!

Tell me what you think!

How to apply foundation flawlessly

Foundation, the base of a girl's makeup.

This magical creation evens out your skin tone, covers your blemishes and overall improves your appearance! But without the right foundation for you, your skin can look cakey, streaky, 'too orange' or simply just 'not right'!

Finding the perfect foundation is extremely hard, and I myself haven't yet found one. But, even if you don't have a perfect foundation, you can still make it look close to perfect by the way you apply it.

Before you start!

Definitely exfoliate, moisturise and prime before you apply foundation. This is a complete must for me! Without following these simple steps, my foundation doesn't look as good! If you don't exfoliate, dry skin or dirt can get trapped in your makeup all day! GROSS! And by moisturising and priming, your giving yourself a better chance of making your foundation smoother and last longer! It also prevents dry skin from making your makeup look terrible. What I use most days...

Garnier Exfoliators and Toner
Clean and Clear moisturiser
Revlon Colour Correcting Primer
Onto the application processes...

1. Applying with your fingers

This technique can work well with light foundations or tinted moisturisers. Make sure your hands are CLEAN first! Place a dot of foundation on your nose, each cheek, three on your forehead and three on your chin. Blend in circular motions with your ring fingers from your nose out. Then blend across your forehead, along your chin and down into your neck (because no one wants a 'line')! Once this is done, check closely in the mirror that you haven't missed anywhere on your face and everything looks smooth. Almost done! I always use a translucent powder to set my makeup and give it a more flawless look!

2. Applying with a sponge

Creme or liquid foundations work well with a sponge! Make sure you wet your sponge before hand and squeeze as much water as you can out of it! Then place dots of foundation on each area of your face, as described above. Work from your nose out in circular motions to blend the foundation all over your face and down your neck. I always finish these foundations with a translucent powder as well!

3. Applying with a makeup brush

Alternatively, you can use a makeup brush to apply your foundation! The list of different brushes you can use goes on and on. Personally, I use the Sigma F80-Flat Top Kabuki because it blends out my foundation so well! Angled brushes can also work to get into the hard to reach areas! Stippling brushes are great for liquid foundations to 'stipple' the foundation lightly on. The best brushes for powder are kabuki brushes because they have so many dense fine hairs which evenly deposit the makeup around your face!Again, I always finish my foundation with a translucent finishing powder!

So I hope you can now create that flawless look that you've always wanted!
